Canadians urged to move equities outside RRSPs for tax gains
The article discusses RRSP investment rules under recent budget proposals. It argues that fixed income securities gain little tax advantage inside RRSPs and that holding equities inside RRSPs is increasingly imprudent due to a proposed $500,000 capital gains exemption. It notes low Canadian stock ownership compared with the U.S. and urges Canadians to invest equity outside RRSPs to maximize tax benefits and growth.
