Shoal Lake Plans Centennial Mounted Police Exhibit

Historical Society announces a centennial exhibition marking 100 years since the first Mounted Police Post at Shoal Lake. The event runs July 16–19 in Town Hall with artifacts from regional museums, a beef barbecue on July 18, and a R.C.M.P. dialogue reenactment featuring current members.

Huskie Head Painting Earns School Wide Pride

The Hamiota Huskies inspired a long lasting school keepsake. Mrs Ann Er mutter agreed to paint a large Huskie Head about 10 by 12 feet for the gym wall. Charles Randell built the frame while Charlie Bell varnished both picture and frame. Art Morrig hung the artwork.

Ladies' Club Meeting Notes June Program and Broad Social

The Ladies Club met in the Senior Citizens Park Residence lounge on Friday June 20 at 7 30. Mrs Louise Andrew led the worship with a Friendship theme. Seventeen members and two visitors attended, with reports from the treasurer and hospital aid. Members thanked Rolling Dale Workshop for a donation and flowers were sent to Mrs Elsie Kirk and Elmer Houck. Volunteers were asked for booths and meals at the July 17 fair. Guests, slides from Jean Picard on Mongolia and Siberia, and a birthday cake for Louise Andrew highlighted the evening, with planning for an October meeting.

Anniversary Celebrated at Bridges Home

Forty two relatives and friends gathered July 6 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bridge for the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. McBain. The couple’s daughter and son in law were married at that home on July 15, 1950.

Women’s Institute Meet at Hooper’s Lake Camp Kitchen

The July WI meeting in Camp Kitchen Hooper’s Lake saw nine members attend. President Mrs. Ar Heise led the Creed. Mrs. J E Finkbeiner gave updates from Counter Points and ACWW. Mrs. Myrtle White was named Manitoba Woman of the Year. a post-meeting dip capped a sunny afternoon.
