Dinner With A Catch At A Hamiota Surprise Reunion

Nelson and Winifred Kreager celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a surprise noon meal at Ross and Ethel Robertson’s Hamiota home on July 4 1971. Forty two friends joined for tea and lunch, with gifts and a jolly finale of For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.

Shower Held for Karen Blair at Brandon Home

A miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Mrs Lori Blair in Brandon on Wednesday. The room was decorated in pink and white streamers and wedding bells. Corsages were pinned on the guest of honor, her mother Mrs H Anderson and the groom's mother Mrs Roy Espey. Mrs Lori Blair gave a brief address of thanks to Karen. After opening gifts Karen thanked her friends. A few contests and a light lunch followed.

Decker Anniversary Celebrated at Stewart Home

About 40 friends gathered on July 2 to honor Mr. and Mrs. L Stewart on their 25th wedding anniversary. George Davis and Edna Sunley presented a coffee table and end tables. Lloyd spoke for thanks. A social evening and lunch followed.

Red Sox Clinch Third After Narrow Riverside Loss

The Red Sox lost 1-0 at Riverside in a game decided by an error on the only run. Ron Ramsey earned the win with 5 hits allowed as Scott fanned 9 in a four hitter. Al Robertson Mel Smith and John Wright led Sox hitting, while Ramseys 5th win came in a tense 9th inning.

Betty Ann Smith Shower Honors Bride Elect Betty Ann Smith

A Crandall community shower for Betty Ann Smith, bride elect of July 3, was held in the United Church basement on June 19. Guests included Yvonne Eastcott and Linda Rudd. The event featured gifts, a wishing well, a dress plot contest, and 59 signed the guest book before a light lunch.

Couple Honoured on 25th Wedding Anniversary

Art and Thelma Morris were honored at the Robertson home in Hamiota on June 29 1971 for their 25th wedding anniversary. Ross and Ethel Robertson hosted supper with several couples visiting after, followed by card playing lunch and cake. Thelma spoke on behalf of the couple.

Recreation Notes From Hamiota Community Column

Community column thanks Dick Prawdzik Del Hunsaker and Campbell while praising Eunice Newton for help. It notes a girls fastpitch team winning first place in Oak River and asks residents to call about a town tennis court. Arts and Crafts for children and archery interest are announced with Fair Day on the 22nd and a post-dance admission.

Shell Farm Exhibition At Decker Farm Fair

Shell Farm Exhibition drew over 100 visitors to Decker on June 29. Attendees received gift folders and tickets to a family entertainment centre. Local Shell representatives Mr. Lowry and Mr. Grant McLean promoted Shell products for farms as Pat and Edna Higgins hosted exhibits and refreshments. Kelvin Lints won a grease gun and Doraena grease in the door prize.

Surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary for Deutschs

About 45 friends gathered on July 7 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Deutsch with a pole lamp and chinaware as a 25th anniversary gift. Irene Maynes and George Davis presented the gift and Angus Maynes gave the presentation address. Rudy thanked the group and a social evening with lunch followed.

A Trousseau tea was held June 27 at Mr and Mrs Newton Smiths home in honor of their eldest daughter Betty Ann a July 3 bride elect.
