Co op Refinery Anniversary Draws Saskatchewan Crowd
A 25th anniversary celebration of Consumers' Co operative Refinery drew about 40 000 people from Saskatchewan and neighboring provinces to Regina on Saturday June 18. The event featured tours, games, rides, banners and a cairn unveiling for co op pioneers with speeches by dignitaries including Premier T C Douglas and George Urwin. Local talent contest finals awarded prizes to Ivan McNabb Mrs H Clowes and David Nostbakken with other finalists receiving gold watches.

A June 29 gathering at Dr. and Mrs. McMillan’s home honored Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bridgeman and family as they leave Oak River for Vernon. Corsages for Mrs. Bridgeman and Bernice. gifts included Samsonite luggage for the Bridgemans, cufflinks for Kenneth, a fishing kit for Dean, and a leather cosmetic case for Bernice. Dr. McMillan offered farewell words, Ted Bridgeman replied, and a dainty lunch followed.

Vista Clothing Club named Champion and Oak River Reserved Champion. Marlene James crowned Rally Queen. A J Day of Eatons Canada Winnipeg presented silver spoons. The Hamiota Women's Institute held a final summer meeting on June 30 in the community room with a pot-luck supper.
