Author night at Hamiota Library features Hulbert and Seitz
A June 18 evening event drew a small, appreciative audience at the Hamiota Centennial Library. Local author Winifred N. Hulbert read from Down My Road with background notes, while Mary Ann Seitz offered excerpts from Shelterbelt and a chapter from The Dance. Ploughboy ’84 brings locals to Centennial Park tests
Hamiota Men’s Curling Club chairman Brent Strachan says plans for the King Farmer type event on Saturday July 21 at Centennial Park are nearly complete. The five event competition includes tractor and cultivator obstacle, welding, front end loader, tractor and trailer back up, and a judging test for cattle weight grain estimates weeds. Prizes total 2200 dollars including a 950 grain tester and 600 in liquid fertilizer. Event starts at 1:00 p.m. sharp and invites local farmers to compete for honours.

HAMIOTA The Centennial Parade route for Fair Day July 19 has been finalized with marshalling at the local school grounds. The 9:00 a m start proceeds east on Lilac Ave to 2nd Street N E then follows Birch Maple and 9th Street to the fair grounds over roughly 2.5 kilometers.
