The council met Saturday June 15 and arranged delivery of telephone posts along lines for municipal telephones. Government experts Frenel and Morrison have preliminaries complete and posts and material are to arrive in a few days. About 2500 phones have already been subscribed.
Pupils present an illuminated address to their teacher Miss Munroe and a lady's companion at the Watson School closing. Miss Munroe has taught there two years and earned strong support from pupils and parents. all hope she returns after the holidays.
Lodges in the county shift the Neepawa July 12 event to Hamiota after a late meeting. Committees are active to organize a strong program with a $100 baseball prize and purses for horse races including a gentleman’s road race and a running half mile. All lodges plan to attend for a large crowd and good time.
The June 25 1907 Hamiota council session details a Court of Revision confirming the assessment roll, adoption of revised figures, and authorizing by laws and borrowing up to 7000 dollars. It records salary adjustments, finance committee payments, road commissions by ward, and adjournment with next meeting to be called by the reeve.
Crowds gathered for Canada’s National Holiday in Hamiota with tennis, football, baseball and obstacle events. Winners included G Stewart and T Spalding in tennis, Shoal Lake and Hamiota in football, and Hamiota taking baseball over Miniota. Brass Band provided praised music as visitors arrived from Minitoba and beyond.
W H Stewart promotes land bargains in Crandel Manitoba style from Box 62. He claims buyers can acquire quarter, half, or full sections with little money and double their investment quickly. He invites farmers to list properties to attract buyers.
Interested vendors may contact the Secretary to secure booths on the grounds for the twelfth. For late arrivals, seats held at Warners Bookstore stay until 6 p.m. and reopen at 6:40 p.m. at the Roller Rink located at Pricese and 10th streets.
