Wheat Board expands quotas to boost grain deliveries

Old Age Security and GIS Payments Rise in 1980

Ottawa announces July 1980 increases to the Old Age Security pension, Guaranteed Income Supplement and Spouse's Allowance. The basic OAS rises to 191.28, GIS max to 192.03, with couples and single recipients gaining based on income and eligibility rules. The increases, tied to cost of living, include a 35.00 monthly GIS bump and extend to spouses and surviving spouses under set conditions.

Hamiota to Host Inter-Provincial Bantam Tourney

Hamiota was chosen to host the Bantam division of the Western Canada inter-provincial tourney with Glenboro hosting the Intermediate category. The event is set for August 15 to 17 with British Columbia and Alberta attending alongside a Manitoba team and a host team. Volunteers are sought for passes, gatekeeping, and billets, with Lorna Robertson reachable at 764-2002.
