Larry Paterson’s Hereford steer won Grand Champion at the McConnell Fat Stock Sale on Saturday June 26, selling to Hamiota Co-op for 43 cents per pound and earning the McConnell Pool Elevator Association Trophy. Barry Clark’s steer was Reserve Champion at 38.25 cents per pound, with multiple buyers including Hamiota IGA Canada Packers and others.

Children’s Aid Annual Meeting in Brandon Draws 300
The Brandon Brandon area gathering hosted by the Children’s Aid Society drew 300 attendees from Southern Manitoba. Key speakers included Mrs. Dunn and Mrs. McDermott with updates on services. the Treasurer listed 3200+ children helped, 631 families served, 720 youths in care, and 267 unmarried mothers aided.

The Women’s Institute held a Pot Luck supper on Tuesday June 22 with 28 members and visitors. Treasurer’s balance was 130.93 dollars. Mrs Robertson reported 175 sewn articles 81 large 12 small sleeveless sweaters 2 afghans sent in. Mrs Johnston sent birthday and sympathy cards. Mrs Grey read Book Mast excerpts as 250000 books were received and set up in Polo Park. District and Provincial Convention reports were given by Mesdames Ward Armstrong and Morris.

The W I group met at Daly Beach after a museum tour at Chap man's Museum Rivers led by Mrs Chapman and Mrs Whelpton. Mrs Hedley presided and plans for the Home Beautification Program were set with Mrs Wilfred Heapy as convenor. Mrs Power invited members to August tea during garden tours and Mrs White received an engraved silver Maple Leaf for her Norway visit as voting delegate of Manitoba Women's Institute.

HAMIOTA the Red Sox split with Souris in a doubleheader as Ellis Woods earned a win and drove in the decisive run in a 5-4 game. Mel Smith hit his 3rd homer while Glennis Scott earned his 4th win. Souris took the 5-3 nightcap as Graner won.
