A school urges pupils to purchase War Savings Stamps to support Canada's effort in defending democracy. It notes some pupils cannot afford to buy them but those who can should contribute as much as possible, stressing urgent need for funds.
R Wood traveled to Winnipeg Tuesday while E W McConnell went to Brandon yesterday. Hamiota School hockey beat Birtle 87 last week. Pte Geo Anderson landed in England weeks ago. Mrs Norman Dale broke her leg last Friday. Several residents returned home from visits in Winnipeg and Somerset Trebern. An afternoon tea raised 600 for refugee children. Mr Harry Hayward Sr died in Vancouver. Anglican Young People held their annual meeting January 22 with elected officers. A free picture show is planned April 3 by International Harvester and local dealer. Hamiota senior hockey defeated Strathclair 7-3. CO-OP to receive Regalds Lump on Feb 1. Monster Carnival planned for Feb 8. Coldest day this winter hit 42 below, Athabasca 64 below. L.O.L euchre drive yielded prizes for ladies and gents. W I to meet Feb 4 with Current Events review.
