Hamiota Church Plans Father and Son Service

Hamiota United Church led by Rev R W K Elliott schedules a Father and Son service on February 9 1941 with morning worship Sunday School and a special event for fathers and sons across town and nearby districts. A separate notice invites all to the Court Hamiota No 367 At Home and Anniversary February 14 with Euchre drive prizes from War Savings Stamps dancing and Red Cross support. A local reader from Victoria B C praises the paper for keeping community news and discusses farming wheat crop expectations.

Hamiota School Bonspiel Crowns Keith Runchey in Primary

The annual bonspiel drew nineteen rinks with high excitement. Keith Runchey’s rink won the Primary, J Wood’s took second, Dennis Burgess third, Winston Jackes fourth. Ivan Gray won Secondary, R Bundy runner up. Merle Milburn triumphed in Consolation over Bill Webb in a tight final. Bill Webb played four games Saturday, pace and energy faded.

Thornton Hazlewood Wedding in Brandon Manitoba

Mildred Field daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Fred Thornton married Samuel Hazlewood second son of the late Mr and Mrs Wesley Hazlewood in Flist United Church Brandon Manitoba on January 25 1941. Uncle J H Thornton gave the bride and Rev F E H James officiated. The couple will reside in the Chumah district.
