Grace Rebekah Lodge Installs Grace No 35 Officers
Grace No 35 in Oak River installed its officers on January 17 for the 1972 term. District Deputy President Mrs Beryle Burt and Deputy Marshal Mrs Gwen Mc Tavish presided with numerous named officers led by Noble Grand Mrs Grace Henderson and other titled members. Eunice Brooks was elected as representative to attend the Rebekah Assembly Session in Winnipeg in March.

Ceramic Club Meeting Plans Display Tea and Bazaar
The Ceramic Club held a general meeting Monday January 19 at 7 30 in the community room. Plans were made for a display and Tea in the hall and a float for fair day. Discussions covered a bazaar and Bake Sale in the fall and Kurt Little of Decker won the two ceramic Xmas Trees sold by tickets.

OAK RIVER the fourth meeting of the Home Ec Club met January 17 after school at the Junior High. Aileen Scla ter elected secretary, donations approved for March of Dimes Muscular Dystrophy and Club Council, 4H Jamboree in Hamiota and Public Speaking dates noted, Hazel Mitchell spoke on public speaking and demonstrated, pot luck supper followed by slides from Wendy McCallum on the National 4H Conference, next meeting February 4 after school.

Couples Honoured at Decker Social Evening
A January 19 gathering at Decker United Church Auditorium honored couples Mr. and Mrs. Don Murray and Mr. and Mrs. Frank James. Newlyweds Don and Marlene Murray were escorted in by Harold Strachan and presented with a seed money sack. Remarks welcomed Marlene to the community and noted the Jord of local farming for 34 years. A money tree gift and thanks followed, with a Birtle Men’s Choir providing entertainment and a committee lunch served.
Presbytery to Meet in Strathclair for Budget Session
Birtle Presbytery executive agrees to cover some inherited bills as the Stewardship Division meets at Strathclair United Church at 2 p.m. January 27, 1972. The next presbytery gathering is scheduled for Minnedosa United Church on February 7, 1972. Rev Don Cockrill, a Brazilian missionary, leads a contemporary worship evening with a study and sharing open to the public.

Birtle Wins Rosebowl Curling Crown in Hamiota
The Rosebowl Competition for District No. 3 in Hamiota drew eleven rinks January 17 19. Birtle clinched the title with Donna Brown Alberta Bonner Ann Gosselin Marion Graham leading the winning rink, while Lenore rink led by Mary Johnston Carol Wilson Kathy Smith Glenda Hod gins claimed the A side. Brown defeated Johnston twice to win and advance to Dauphin.
