New Crop Varieties Reach Growers for 1978 Planting
This year introduces Coulter durum wheat as the sole new variety with limited seed supply for spring planting. Two rapeseed varieties Candle and Regent are available, both low erucic acid and low glucosinolate. Candle yields are lower than Torch but seed quality is high. Regent resembles Tower, with similar oil and protein content and slightly higher yield. Order early due to limited stock.

Debbie Hanlin is home from hospital and recovering. Mary Still Bev Doran Jessie Wall and Margaret Heise will take part in a ladies bonspiel at Shoal Lake January 20 21 22. Dave Heise J Coxworth Ken Clark and Murray Bell joined a senior men’s bonspiel at Hamiota over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Les Leland and Mr and Mrs Leonard Leland vacation in Hawaii. Mrs Betty Browning John Cable’s sister from England visited Canada with her sons Keith and Steve. Ed Babiuk is in Winnipeg for a medical checkup. Elmer Brown notes Edna should return home from Wallaceburg Ontario around January 13. Welcome home Edna Miss Marilyn Gardham of Edmonton spent Christmas with the Gardham family.
