Hamiota District Health Centre with University of Manitoba begins a community wide health promotion needs assessment. Questionnaires target grade 5, grades 7/9/11/12, young to middle aged adults, and seniors. Volunteers needed for distribution, photocopying, and collection. contact Geraldine Guilfoyle at 764-2412 for involvement. Final questionnaire draft slated for photocopying by late January with distribution in early February.

Legion Spiel Brings Eighteen Rinks to Kenton
The annual Legion bonspiel took place January 3 and 4 with eighteen rinks competing for points. Miniota won with the highest score while Shoal Lake and the Ladies Auxiliary tied. the Auxiliary won the cut and placed second with Shoal Lake third.

Senior Games Playoffs Spark 1992 Local Action
The 1991 Senior Games are finished and 1992 playoffs begin to decide who advances to Swan River in June. Local events include whist on January 22 cribbage January 29 and 500 February 5 at the Community Centre from 1 30 pm. Open to anyone 55 and over with a $2 non member fee.

Local snowmobilers join Journey For Sight ride
Hamiota Lions Mac Campbell and Jim Anderson join this year’s Journey For Sight starting January 15 in Flin Flon with stops at The Pas Swan River Birtle and Portage la Prairie ending in Winnipeg January 19. Riders pass Hamiota January 18 stopping at Bell’s Convenience Store to collect pledges for the Lions Eye Bank. Last year’s ride raised over $50 000.
