Hamiota Collegiate hosts Education Week events inviting parents and friends to tour the school on Wednesday March 7 1962 from 1 3 30 p m. Classes start at 1 00 p m and dismiss at 2 05 p m with tea served. Principal Frank McKinnon invites attendance.
The 67th annual Hamiota Bonspiel opened Monday February 26 with 65 rinks. Major events were Challenge and Houck Caldwell, followed by secondary events. Pre bonspiel favourites included Reid Duncan Horne Davidson Mathison Kreager Fraser Allen and Brooks. Openers saw Lloyd Horne Nelson Kreager Mathison Lints Duncan and Dixon clash. Sandy Sutherland led with an 8 end victory.
An organizational meeting for the Hamiota Civil Defence Emergency was held in Hamiota on Monday evening February 19 1962. The area covers Blanshard Ward 2 4 5 6 and parts of Miniota north of the Assiniboine river. Council deputies were chosen from each municipality and Lorne Montgomery was elected area chairman. A March 6 meeting in Miniota will feature J A Hannah on civil defence and two films Disaster Control and A Voice shall be heard.
The Ladies Aid of Ham iota Hospital District No 7A met in the Community room on Friday February 23 with president Mrs Lorne Wright presiding. Seventeen districts answered roll call as treasurer E A Dixon reported finances and noted the school board pays 40 cash for discarded linen. Members discussed hospital needs including flour sisters, a cheese cutter, two Pyrex cake pans, bed spreads, housecoats and laundry bag material. The group planned year long projects and bedside items. Seavey Feamagens closed with a bene diction from Mispah.
The Canadian Army deploys nine CH 112 light utilities to Europe for operation with the Canadian Brigade in Germany. Dismantled at Rivers, Manitoba, they will be airlifted by three RCAF Hercules aircraft. Six helicopters join reconnaissance with the armoured regiment under flight commander Capt. Lorne Glendinning.
Doreen Caroline Alldred and Eric Ernest Faye wed at Trinity United Church Portage la Prairie on November 18 1961 in a double ring ceremony. The bride wore white taffeta with a lace veil and carried Bacarra roses. the groom wore a formal suit. A reception for 65 followed at the Legion Hall with a three tier cake and toasts. They will honeymoon in the United States and reside in Calgary. Out of town guests attend from Alberta Saskatchewan Manitoba and Ontario.

It urges vaccination of dogs, warns the public to destroy suspicious wild animals, and explains brain samples for diagnosis and Pasteur treatment. It also calls for public cooperation to reduce wildlife and anticipates mandatory vaccination if rabies appears locally.
Len Allen Jim Stevens Allan Asselstine and Keith Ritchie swept the major curling events, remaining undefeated in a week’s recap. Hamiota teams beat Neepawa 69 to 25 in boys action and 51 to 13 in girls with standout scorers Clayton Wyburn 41 points and Linda Kidd 32.
