Hamieda Feb 19 1910 The council announces intermunicipal telephone links will incur charges after March 1 with 1s per connection and a separate 20 per year fee starting July 1. The rate goes to the telephone commission. no flat rate was secured for adjoining municipalities.
The Sons of England Benevolent Society donates 4.08 to the hospital as the year ends in March. The board asks all hospital accounts be rendered by March first and stresses readiness for accidents. An advert promotes Chamberlains Liniment for sprains and bruises sold by B. R. McNaught.
The Board of Trade meeting in the Council Chamber elected W A Thomson as president and Thos Kerr as vice president after Mr Grant left town. A motion to petition railway officials for better passenger service passed unanimously and a proposal to switch to a single local option vote every three years was approved. Delegates Jas A Neelandry and Ed L Stone were named to represent the board on the government delegation.
A Bla Crain Growers Association banquet at a Lucas home on February 18 drew about sixty attendees. Speeches praised King Edward VII and farm organizations, while new members joined the Grain Growers Association. Local hockey and a croup prevention ad were also mentioned along with a Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy plug.
