Manitoba Secondary School Athletic Association runs curling championships on Saturday February 25 with the boys event starting at 8:30 a.m. at Hamiota. Thirteen zones compete for the trophy, first-loss teams drop to a consolation event, and a 1:00 p.m. banquet may host MC A dignitaries.

Kroft Named Campaign Chairman for 1967 Red Cross Drive

Guy J. Kroft is appointed Campaign Chairman of Manitoba Red Cross Fund Drive for 1967. He has long served in Red Cross work and was a vice president in 1965. previously he was honorary counsel of the division. The campaign targets 425,200 dollars with prior pledges of 310,340 from United Way groups. The remaining provinces will canvass about 260 communities in March to raise 114,860 dollars to reach the goal.

Death of Mervyn Bridge in Hamota

Mervyn Bridge 57 of Hamota died in Hamota Hospital Thursday February 16. Funeral service held Monday at 2 p.m. in Himicta United Church. Survived by wife Beryl and two sons Keith and Glen. Rev Ralph Clark officiated. Interment in Hamota Cemetery. McConnell Bros. Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Centennial Park Opens in Hamiota Village

The Centennial Project for Hamota Village and Rural Municipality unveils Hamiota Municipal Park a sixty three acre site with a nine hole golf course bowling greens ball diamonds a playground agricultural fair buildings and Pioneer Club Museum. Participating groups include Hamota Rural Municipality the Village of Hamiota Hamiota Agricultural Society Hamiota Golf Club Hamiota Senior Red Sox Ball Club Pioneer Club Lawn Bowlers Club Lioness Club. Centennial Caravan comes to Hamiota July 9 1967 and the official park opening is July 26 1967.
