Birdtail River School Division Board Meeting Minutes
The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 held a regular meeting at Crandall on February 10 1977 at 7 30 p m with trustees Butcher Murray Kreager Choptuik Rapley Bunn Shier Tolton Waddell Armitage present. They adopted minutes, noted resignations of Barbara Beamish and R Hnatyshyn, approved grants 150 for North Western Marquette Festival 300 for Birdtail River Fine Arts Festival 50 for Western Manitoba Science Fair, hired Leslie Grills, approved salaries, allowed late levy interest, approved trustee expenses, and adjourned to February 24 1977.

Oak River Hosts Sixth Annual Rural Pee Wee Tournament
Oak River hosted the Rural Pee Wee Division of the Tournament of Champions for the sixth year as Brandon city took over sponsorship after K. ot C. Brandon could not continue. Teams from Dauphin Stonewall Killarney The Pas Deloraine Swan Valley Shoal Lake Souris St Lazare Neepawa Minnedosa and Oak River Hamilta competed with Stonewall beating The Pas for the championship and Deloraine defeating St Lazare for the consolation. Awards included Most Valuable Player Al McDonald Stonewall and Top Point Getter Ray Moyer The Pas. A Sunday service by Rev D McNeill and thanks to billets sponsors and volunteers capped a successful event.

Hamiota Seniors Host First Whist Drive
The Senior Citizens held their first Whist drive on February fifth with a good crowd. Twenty five tables participated. The club adopts a new name The Senior Happy Gang. Winners included Mrs Em Miller and Mrs LES Reid with herb Johnson and Harold Hunter as gents winners. Lunch followed, making a pleasant evening.

W I Meeting Highlights in Oak River
The W I group in Oak River held its regular meeting in the hall on February 2 with president Helen Cantelon presiding. Seventeen were present including five visitors. Highlights included a program on ACWW, a pageant by ten members, a visit plan to the Ken Asunier family, and plans for a blood donors clinic in Hamiota on March 2. A Craft Day is set for February 17 and used books for the Book Market will be collected at the Variety Store.
