Readers respond to the worsening farm economy with upbeat letters from a family running 360 acres plus leased land and a couple who left farming for life in Washington state. The correspondents discuss frugal living, financial restraint, and the option to move, study, or redefine farming as a business.
Hamiota PAC ran a logo contest with the year 2000 for Hamiota schools. Amy Chambers of Kenton, grade 11 at Hamiota Collegiate, won. The PAC sells millennium themed clothing to raise funds for both schools with sales open to the public. PAC reps will appear at the elementary school Feb 22 and at the collegiate Feb 24, with sample garments and order deadline Feb 25.
The Hamiota Centennial Library will close all day Tuesday February 22 for a complete book rotation of fiction and non fiction. Patrons are advised to drop in to check out new videos and contact librarian Gladys Mathison at 764 2680 for information.
