Computer lab to boost learning center in Hamiota
A partnership between Hamiota Collegiate Birdtail River School Division and Hamiota Economic Development Corporation will install a state of the art computer lab in the north wing of the collegiate. The project costing 50000 funds comes from CAP HEDC and the school division. The lab will have 18 computers an LCD projector laser printers and a school server enabling online courses and faster internet access. The upgrades will expand learning resources and widen subject offerings for distant education and future job markets.

RCMP note spike in impaired driving during winter events
Six impaired drivers were detected in 24 hours across the Yellowhead Detachment towns of Hamiota Shoal Lake Elphinstone Wasagaming and Minnedosa during weekend patrols. Several had hockey ties and two blew over twice the legal limit. Police caution crowds and roadside checks will rise for Thunder and Ice Festival and other winter activities.
