Prairie Pool weighs U.S. Farm Bill impact on Western farmers
In Winnipeg on January 23 24 the boards of three prairie pools totaling 31 members debated free trade and the U.S. Farm Bill. They warned that Reagan's bill could cut world cereal prices up to 25 percent, threatening western producers with higher costs and lower incomes. The group urged government action and research to ease the gloom in farm finances.

Rolling Dale Athletes Excel At Westman Special Olympics
Four athletes from Rolling Dale Workshop of Cardale competed in the fourth annual Westman Winter Special Olympics in Virden on January 25 1986. Dale Whyton won senior women 100 and 200 metre snow skiing, Neil McMurray took senior men 100 and 400 metre cross country skiing, Wilbert Buchanan and Ed Kroeger earned silver and bronze in senior men snow shoeing. Fern Channon will represent Rolling Dale at the National Special Olympics in Calgary in midsummer after a Winnipeg trip in May.

The Oak River Legion Ladies held a meeting with 14 members. They will not collect for the Ability Fund via a post box. donations go to 825 Sherbrook St Winnipeg. They plan meals at the Men's Bonspiel on March 10 and Bridgeman's sale on April 19. They donate 200 to Memorial Hall and 20 to the Church Memorial Fund for Scott Thompson.
