Community news lists events at Hamiota rink and Orange Hall including Ice Follies on March 5 with costume and race prizes. Church and 4H meetings set for February and March, with tea socials, dances, and a Winnipeg Bonspiel entry. Includes greetings, visits, a Valentine Tea, and hospital thanks.
Mr Tom Ariss of Isabella is celebrated on his birthday born February 14 1875 in Clif ford Ontario. He moved to Manitoba in 1898 and is noted for his long residence and family ties in the region.
In loving memory of William Frank Matthew though far from sight near in thoughts to Violet and Mike Kazakoff in Luxembourg with family sorrow and enduring affection reflecting on his life and presence abroad.
The Evening Service is set for 7pm at the United Church. The Rector will give the address during the service.
Hamiota defeated Cardale 8 4 at Cardale on February 4 and then won 6 2 10 in the return at Hamiota on February 8 to advance to the second round against McGregor.
The United Church hosted the first Family Service sponsored by the Hamiota Young Adults. The YPGIT Trail Rangers and Tyros assisted, followed by discussion groups after the Theme. A social hour and lunch by Barry Strickland’s group closed the event.
The annual meeting of Christ Anglican Church Hamiota was held in the crypt on February 1 with Rev. Tom Thurlow presiding. Reports from the senior Evening Branch and Church School were read. Miss Marion MacDougall served as secretary treasurer and the rector noted increased attendance and more Communions. Vic Edwards was reappointed churchwarden and Rene Lepine re-elected as Peoples' Churchwarden. The 1954 vestry includes M Francis, EG Little, T G Knapton Pain, F M Manwaring, C Butler, M MacDougall, F Morris. Synod delegates are T G Knapton-Pain and Rene Lepine. alternates EG Little and M Francis. A memorial moment honored those who died. lunch followed.
