Manitoba Agriculture Minister Bill Uruski told the 1984 Agriculture Outlook Conference that farmers cannot rebound quickly after years of high costs and bad weather. He cited a 107 percent rise in farm bankruptcies 1982–83, noted favorable signs for a slow recovery, and highlighted beef hog stabilization and crop receipts as key supports while warning of lower grain prices in late 1984.
