Mrs Peter Cartney Laid To Rest in Hamiota
Mary Sinclair Pickard widow of Peter Cartney died January 21 at Hamiota hospital on her 86th birthday. Born 1874 in Scotland she married June 2 1900 at Ellon and moved to Canada in 1913. Survived by husband four children fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren two sisters and two brothers. Burial January 25 at Hamiota Cemetery with pallbearers listed.

Local Lions Club Holds Third Annual Birthday
The Orange Hall hosted the Local Lions Club birthday on Wednesday January 27. Smith's Orchestra provided music for dancing while non dancers played cards upstairs. Guests attended, prizes awarded in Spot Dance to Fred and Dorothy Venables and elimination dance to Heather Houck and Glen Gregory, a birthday cake donated by Pittendreigh Bros, and the lucky draw won by Vira Taylor. The event ended with lunch.

The C.G.LT. met in the school on January 27 with hymn and Bible readings. Myrtle Fraser and Irene Fenty led the worship service. Minutes were read and adopted, and the treasurer reported. Correspondence was read and plans for the February 12 Valentine Dance were made. Members separated into groups, attendance charts were marked, and reports were filed. The junior group finished Bible Study while the Seniors began the Africa Mission Study. The meeting adjourned with Taps.
