Shoal Lake to Get New Parkland Library Branch
The Parkland Regional Library opens the Shoal Lake Community Library on Tuesday January 6 at Station Road and The Drive. Hours are 2:00 to 5:00 PM Tuesday to Friday with a 10:00 AM to 12 Noon option. The 1500 square foot facility costs about 100000 dollars funded partly by a provincial capital grant. The collection starts with over 3000 volumes across children and adults, including large print and cassette tapes. A Request Service will mail books from regional headquarters to the branch. Membership is free for Shoal Lake residents. non residents may buy memberships.

4 Hers Christmas Party Held In Hamiota
The 4 Hers Christmas party met December 1 at 7 pm in the Municipal Office basement. Little business was discussed so members exchanged gifts and ate. Delmar Kirk led woodworking and provided lunch of sandwiches cookies cupcakes and juice. Leaders gave each member a candy cane and a Christmas orange as gifts.

Golden Age Club Meets at Miniota Hall Enjoys Christmas Cheer
At the Miniota Hall meeting of the Golden Age Club on Tuesday afternoon, members hosted by the Miniota U C W heard a welcome from Evelyn Barrett and saw Jean Cook, recently released from Hamiota Hospital, greeted by applause. A quartet, a housewife reading, and a carol contest followed as tea and desserts were served, with get well wishes sent to Doris Peel and Bill Peel and a note of regret for Rose Finkbeiner hospitalized. The group announced the January meeting at Park Residence in Hamiota, with thanks from Mrs. Ida Reeves.
