Government to Relocate 500 Jobs to Rural Manitoba
Premier Gary Filmon announced a province wide plan to move more than 500 government positions to rural Manitoba starting next summer. The move aims to boost local economies with a payroll near 20 million outside Winnipeg and will include at least 100 more Crown corporation jobs later. Initial relocation notices will go out in March to align with the new school year, with total costs around 10 million and completion hoped by end of 1991. Syd Reimer will serve as Decentralization Coordinator.
