Reconnaissance drilling near Hamiota advances site search
MHWMC began a reconnaissance drilling program on December 6, 1989, around sites south and west of Hamiota to gather geological and hydrogeological data. Seven holes near SW 26, SW 25, and SE 25 were drilled to 36 metres, with glacial till over a sand aquifer. further drilling at NW 11-13-23 and SW 12-14-23 showed deeper tills and mixed sand layers. Results are encouraging but require further testing and community consultation before proceeding.
