Oak River Legion Auxiliary met December 1 with Alice Dowaletek chairing. A new member application was accepted. They discussed a centennial cookbook and ordered 500 copies. Collect recipes by January 1, 1984 at Shamray's Quick Freeze. Get well and baby cards were sent. Gladys Cowan to buy gifts for shut ins. Hall committee election planned for January. Men joined for games, Santa distributed gifts, pot luck lunch. Installation of officers set for January 5, 1984. Christmas wishes and New Year greetings.

Railways set to perform in moving grain
CP Rail executive vice-president R S Allison told the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool annual meeting that new Western Grain Transportation Act expands railways capacity to handle grain. He noted CP Rail will seek outside capital for a Rogers Pass tunnel and double tracking project due 1988, with 315 million dollars spent in 1983.

Kenton School Hosts Second PTA Meeting Attended By Community
The Kenton Junior School hosted its second Parent-Teacher Association meeting on November 17 1983 with three teachers Mr Boyle Mr Nicholls Miss Cooper school trustee Mr Tolton and about twenty parents present. President Mrs Kasprick reviewed October minutes and the group approved fees for joining the provincial Home and School at 40 and the local family fee at 2.50 with terms for officers. Len Kasprick resigned from vice president and a new vice president will be chosen at the January meeting. Doris Fedun president of the Provincial Home and School Association spoke on its history levels and benefits and urged Kenton H S to draft its own Constitution and Bylaws for future reference.

Final touches put on drama production at Hamiota
HAMIOTA The students have completed preparations for their annual production and are set for opening night at 7 30 tonight in the collegiate. The program starts with four selections by the Senior Band followed by a 72 voice chorus singing six Christmas carols with Mrs Vi Smith accompanying. The cast has labored to learn lines polish songs and perfect dance steps. Cinderella remains in rags but may try on the slipper if the chance arises.
