Mackling unveils future park plan for Manitoba

Natural Resources Minister Al Mackling releases a proposed parks system plan to guide 17 new provincial parks across Manitoba. Free municipal ornamental energy offered in Manitoba

Manitoba Hydro announces free energy for municipal or ornamental lighting during the festive season. Councils may select a 23 day period from December 10 to January 1 or December 17 to January 8 inclusive. This 48 year tradition began in 1935 when the Manitoba Power Commission offered energy for rural festoons.

Neighbourly News returns to the air in Winnipeg

The program "Neighbourly News on the Prairies" with Fred McGuinness becomes a Friday 11:20 a.m. feature on CJOB Winnipeg starting December 2, 1983. Limited of Winnipeg sponsors the initial series, drawing from rural Western Canada newspapers. Previously on CBC Radio Saturdays, the show was discontinued earlier this year.

Hamiota to host Junior Women's Playoffs

HAMIOTA The district 3 Junior Women's Playoffs will be held at the local curling rink from Friday to Sunday December 9 10 11. Eleven teams including Karma Kidd Bonnie Allen Debbie Cumming and Shawna Hunt from Hamiota will compete alongside rinks from Birtle Binscarth Rivers Newdale Erickson and five from Virden in a double knockout format to determine District 3’s representative for the Provincial Playdowns. Draws begin at 4 30 pm with 7 00 pm and 9 30 pm sessions and finals set for Sunday.
