Village of Hamiota Holds Annual Rate Payers Meeting

A large turnout of ratepayers gathered in the council chamber for the annual meeting presided by Mayor WL C. Fraser. Mayor Stewart announced he will not seek re election and Councillor Jos. McLean also did not run again. Councillors reviewed departmental work and the consolidated school financials were presented by Secretary-Treasurer Jno. Nairn with questions invited.

Mayor and Councillors Elected by Acclamation

A village meeting in Hamiota and Consolidated School District No. 692 nominated four candidates for mayor and council. With no opposition, F. C. Bennest was named mayor, Alex Kerr reelected, J. G. McConnell to replace J. McLean, and J. H. Bedford to replace F. C. Bennest, all by acclamation.

Wedding Bells at Parker Home

Mrs Walter Parker hosted a small wedding on Wednesday December 3. Vera Palmer, Parkers sister, wed Mr John Anderson in a ceremony by Rev Tarkington. The bride wore Cape blue silk poplin with white chrysanthemum hair ornaments. A repast followed and guests danced as the couple left for their new home amid best wishes.

Hamiota Auxiliary hears reports and plans clothing drive

The Hamiota Auxiliary of the Women's Missionary Society met in the church parlor with Mrs. J. H. Shier presiding. They studied The King's Business, heard on Newdale district convention report by Mrs Ben Brooks, arranged winter clothing for All People's Mission Winnipeg, and enjoyed a ten cent tea hosted by Mrs. Smith and Miss Gatteridge after songs.
