The first Boy Scouts concert last Friday filled the hall to capacity with local talent. Scout master Shimmin earned praise as Mayor Whimster presented him with boots and skates. The event raised about $60 after expenses for the boys, who thanked participants and organizers for supporting the cause.
Mrs Alf Sutherland gave a detailed report on the 8 35 convention held in Portage at Knox Sunday School. Misses Houck and McMurphy sang a duet to much enjoyment. In the Methodist Sunday School Miss Dixon presented a full convention report and Rev Reid addressed the group.
Nominations for the rural municipality were held in Moonsell's hall last Monday afternoon with no new candidates. Returning Officer Andrew declared Reeve Houck and Councillors for Wards 1 2 and 8 elected by acclamation. A large meeting reviewed the year's business and discussed finances road work weed inspection and a proposed loan to fund better road layouts and ongoing municipal services.
The last meeting of the old Council for the year was held in the council chamber last Monday evening with Mayor Whiteter presiding. Accounts were read and ordered paid. a public meeting of ratepayers was scheduled for Monday, December Usili.
