Walter Bardua announces changes to Manitoba Autopac for 1989 including underinsured motorist and passenger hazard coverages at no extra premium. The plan also revises refunds for cancelled policies, adds $1000 basic sound equipment coverage, raises rental car limits, reduces all perils deductibles for mopeds and trailers, and adjusts commercial vehicle coverage to tailor to high value trucks and provincially regulated operations.

Hamiota Poeta winner at Manitoba Association awards dessert
The Canadian Authors Association Manitoba Branch held its annual awards dessert party in Winnipeg December 2. Judges announced three prizes and five honourable mentions in the Free Press Non-fiction Contest and the Iona Weenusk Award. The Poetry Competition drew 190 entries, with 137 from Winnipeg and 53 from outside. Winifred Hulbert won first prize for her free verse poem.

Magic City to Host First International Skating Event
The Magic City Figure Skating Club will host the first Annual Magic City International Competition January 20 22, 1989. Children's Aid weekend in Hamiota raises over 2800
The Hamiota and District drive for Children's Aid was a huge success, with more than 2800 donated to Child and Family Service of Western Manitoba. Lee Cochrane of Burr Saskatchewan won the Owl Plate. Thanks were given to all who supported the weekend.

The Collegiate drama club mounts Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs on December 13 and 14 at 7:00 PM.
