The Hamiota CAC and Manitoba Hazardous Waste Management Corp plan site evaluation in Hamiota RM. Twelve landowners offered 24 quarters for review with two preferred sites SE 26-13-24 and SE 25-13-24 and a surrounding SW 25-13-24. Four shallow holes may be drilled in road allowances with landowner approval to verify hydrogeological data.
Twenty four Manitoba municipalities will share 647,892 in police services grants this year. Grants up to 100,000 reward communities for higher than average policing costs, funded partly by levies on municipalities and urban districts that use RCMP services at no direct cost. Western Manitoba towns Deloraine Rivers Brandon and others listed with grant amounts.
Armour and his Spuris Curling Club rink won the Westons Mixed berth at Hamiota November 24-26. They defeated Dale Duguid of Winnipeg 8-7 in an extra end for the final, after earlier wins over Ken Lawn and Dale Brooks in semi finals and over Jim Renwick, Kelly Robertson, and Duguid in the quarter finals. Crowds praised the weekend of exciting games and ice conditions.
Manitoba Natural Resources Minister Harry Enns welcomed two federal and regional efforts to restore waterfowl. The North American Waterfowl Management Plan will invest 30 million over five years, and the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture aligns eastern governments and groups to protect waterfowl. Projects like Manitoba's Habitat Enhancement and Land Use aim to benefit farmers while boosting habitats.
The Economic Development Committee announced outreach to the Western Regional Office of Manitoba Industry Trade and Tourism for business development assistance. The contact aims to provide guidance to local businesses seeking growth and support services.

On November 28 the Beulah party line subscribers switched to Individual Line Service under MTS Service for the Future. The 114 Beulah subscribers join 47,000 provincial lines to gain Call Waiting Call Forwarding and Automatic Number Identification while avoiding operator long distance dialing. Doug Delgatty, MTS VP Western Region, says this shows the company's commitment to customer satisfaction.
