The August 18 1975 council session reported cash receipts of 72968.78 with a pool surplus of 1475.78 but projected year end shortfalls around 1500. It approved post office area repairs, carpet for steps, new water meters, building permits, and parking signs. Correspondence included a highway board fare increase and municipal audits. The Community Centre group voted a 20 percent rent hike starting immediately for new bookings and phased increases for other bookings.

Couple Honored At Home For Wedding Blessings
About 40 neighbors gathered at Mr and Mrs Ross Robertson's home on August 20 1975 to honor Mr and Mrs Jack Beamish on their marriage. Mrs Nelson Kreager read a humorous poem and expressed good wishes. Maurice Francis and Bruce Frazer gave a garbage can and clothes hamper. Jack thanked guests for gifts and good wishes. They sang For They Are Jolly Good Fellows and Happy Birthday to Mr Clare Hodgson. A mini birthday cake was handed to him. The evening ended with whist and a light lunch.

The Splash Bash Swimathon in Hamiota on August 21 featured Leanne Coulson of Oak River swimming 135 laps while Bob Meakin topped the money-raiser list with 213.30 in proceeds from 80 laps at 2.01 each and donations. Melanie Stewart and Darren Meakin earned 103.00 and 84.75 respectively. Sponsors, swimmers, and a final tally of 1,085.51 marked a successful fund drive with debt relief noted.

A large turnout from Oak River and Hamiota gathered at the Church Hall on August 7 to honor bride elect Jo Ann Riddell of August 16. The program featured music by Mrs. Marilyn Anderson, escorting by Mrs. Wanda Cameron, and gifts opened after an address. About 135 guests signed the guest book and a lunch followed.
