Manitoba Raises Minimum Wage and Ends Youth Differential
Manitoba increases minimum wage from $4.50 to $4.70 per hour effective September 1 1987. Youth wage rises from $4.20 to $4.55 on September 1 1987 and will reach $4.70 by April 1 1988, aligning with the general rate. Labor Minister Al Mackling says the move links pay to the Average Industrial Wage and boosts fairness for young workers.
