Manitoba recognizes private landowners in Ecologically Significant Areas program
Certificates and plaques were awarded August 7 to landowners Joseph Ewanchuk Eugene Bossenmaier and Stanley Triggs under Manitoba’s Ecologically Significant Areas Program. The awards honor protection of about 250 acres including moist prairie eight acres Rosseau River ecosystem jack pine lichen forest and bur oak forest with species such as showy lady's slipper and American woodcock. The program partners with World Wildlife Fund Canada and Nature Conservancy of Canada to preserve ecologically significant sites for future generations.

Milne Couple Fetes 25th Anniversary With Community Gifts

Newlyweds honoured at Wynona Centre gathering
Trent and Sandra Peel were guests of honor at a August 12 gathering at Wynona Centre. The event opened with a pot luck supper, then a head table ceremony, a skit “Modern Marriage,” and a welcome from Lorne Joseph. Meals are served at noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for ages 55 plus or those needing meal assistance, at a cost of 3.25 dollars per meal. Ninety three people gathered at the Hamiota Fairgrounds for the Norrie Reunion from July 31 to August 3. Attendees enjoyed camping swimming and games while a roast beef supper and bagpipe performances were offered. Delegations came from Manitoba British Columbia Alberta Saskatchewan and more.
