Beulah Community Hall hosts 90th birthday for Wm Ringland
A July 31 1983 gathering at Beulah Community Hall celebrated Wm Ringland turning ninety. Tea was served by Mrs Hamberg and Mrs Evans. cake cut by Mrs Tomiski and Mrs Pierce. Family supper followed with sons Jack and Alistar, daughter-in-law Margaret, daughter Betty and George Ringland of Hamiota among attendees. Eleven of thirteen grandchildren were present, with John Huber providing fiddle tunes and Bill Ringland of Calgary serving as MC. The event thanked organizer Mrs Doris Asselstine and helpers for making the day possible.

Liquor and beer prices set to rise in Manitoba
Winnipeg reports that most alcoholic beverages will cost more starting September 1 due to a 13 percent federal excise tax hike and supplier price increases. Domestic wines rise modestly while some imported wines fall. Canadian spirits gain seven to 12 percent and beer climbs 20 cents a dozen as the dollar strengthens.
