Mr Colbeck Passes Away Suddenly

Early district settler Mr Thos Colbeck died last Monday after years of ill health. Born 1858 in Lincolnshire England he came to Canada at sixteen, settled Peel County then Scotia district in 1885. Married 1887 to Christina Henderson. two sons George and William survive. Funeral Wednesday at 2 pm Scotia Cemetery.

Grain Growers to Run Elevators Here This Season

Mr. Smith of the Grain Growers Grain Co visited town to arrange the season’s operation of local elevators. Plans include at least two elevators with a gasoline engine setup possible at the old Northern I. James Scott named to manage local interests with an aide.

A 32 year old woman Mrs Culbert took her own life last Friday near Raven Lake after months of ill health and despondency. Authorities declined an inquest after Hudson car investigated the death as a suicide.

Ellerville School Reopens With High Attendance

Ellerville school reopened with 25 of 26 pupils present in the afternoon. Inspector Smith from Hamilton praised cleanliness and library, admired the school culture, and noted strong class and entrance work. Pupils won prizes at Shoal Lake and Hamilton fairs, with Huth Killoh first and Margaret Arthur second in senior writing, and Kahleen Arthur and Margaret Arthur placing in junior and essay events.
