Strachan Reunion Celebrates Centennial Heritage in Hamiota
About 125 descendants of Alfred and Isobel Strachan gathered at the Hamiota Community Centre on July 10 to begin the 100th anniversary homestead celebration. The evening featured a name tag system, a corsage for Margaret Mitchell, a barbecue, and reminiscences by Neil Strachan and Olive Paterson. The event included sketches, songs, and a display of family artifacts, with Garth and Jean Strachan hosting an open house the following day for some 250 relatives and friends. Commemorative pens, a cathedral display, and a Century Farm Award highlighted the weekend, capped by remarks from local officials and family tributes.
