Citizens question where the fire hall will be built after a near unanimous vote to purchase a new apparatus. The council plans to erect it on the current council chamber site, but townspeople argue the location is not central or convenient to most residences.
The by-law for the fire hall and engine passed with a large majority as 40 supported and 1 opposed. The school by-law failed 34 to 24, with only eight votes cast by outsiders, suggesting residents favor a new school over additions to the present one.
Wheat left from the Dominion Elevator fire available for sale as feed. J. Cohen at Hotel Cecil advertises limited stock for sale until Tuesday and urges buyers to purchase now.
A major town fire Friday noon destroyed the Dominion Elevator built about seventeen years ago. About twelve thousand bushels of wheat owned by the company burned. insured. J Cohen and an Insurance representative assessed the ruins and secured salvaged wheat for $1550.00, with plans to move it to stockyards for feed.
Mr Wm Smith of the Imperial Elevator Co. leaves town for the west. Friends gathered at Hotel Cecil where M P P Ferguson presented a silver cabinet in farewell. Ferguson recalled the pioneer life and Smiths curling involvement. Smith thanked locals and spoke of future reunions while Mrs Smith departed with him Wednesday morning.

The July baseball schedule is nearly finished with one remaining game between Oak River and Kenton. The result won’t change standings as Kenton ends July while Oak River won the June series. Month winners advance to a district championship playoff with dates to be fixed.
The town drain will be dug one more foot deeper to ensure it drains the cellars along the street. Engineers note sufficient grade for this adjustment and the council favors completing the work properly now to avoid repeated future digging and higher costs.
