Redbirds Fall In Twinbill As Sox Rally For Wins

The Redbirds dropped a two game set at Souris with a 11 13 loss after a late Sox rally. Bob Neufeld earned the win for the Red Sox in the opener while Brian Smith took the loss. Hitting highlights included Garcia with two doubles and three RBIs for the Redbirds and Lynn Caldwell with two RBIs for the Red Sox. In the second game Hamiota beat No Daks 6-1. Tom Kurtti got the win over Brian Smith as Roberge and Neumeyer led Rollo with multiple hits.

Traffic Counts Made Available to Local Governments

Manitoba minister Joseph Borowski announced that department traffic counts will be provided to local governments on request for traffic planning. He said sharing counts reduces duplication and aids efficient internal planning in smaller urban communities.

The transportation department will collect counts from entering and leaving centres and provide cautions on interpretation. Counts are one of many factors for road priorities. When local governments lack consultants, the department offers help interpreting the data. Access is for specific purposes, not general circulation.

Manitoba Sees Possible Record Tourist Year in 1969

Minister Peter Burtniak says Manitoba may top the 1967 centennial year as US tourism rises. In the first half of 1969, 104 815 vehicles entered from the United States, 5.3 percent above last year, with June marking the busiest month on record for US visitors. Visitors spent over 107 million dollars last year and the sector remains key to the economy.
