Glen Findlay a Shoal Lake farmer won the Progressive Conservative nomination for Virden defeating Rick Plaister at a Hamiota gathering with about 1200 attendees of which 1045 voted. Findlay, a long-time farmer and former university and NRC researcher, emphasized economic growth and jobs.

Trees for Canada project plant day in Hamiota area
Scouting group participates in Trees for Canada to plant trees for ecology and wildlife habitat. For each dollar donated, a tree is planted in the donor’s name. This year the wind and light break will be planted on the median of the Trans Canada Highway west of Griswold with planting day set for May 4.
