Volunteers expand bluebird nest box program in Hamiota Oak River Riv ers Russell Carberry area. Pete Oberlin donates 100 new boxes to Clarke Snell who extended his bluebird line to serve Tree Swallows and Bluebirds. Nesting sites chosen by March, bluebirds expected to nest twice this season.

Oak River LUD Considers Traffic and Clean Up Plans
Oak River Local Urban District meets April 11 to discuss heavy truck traffic on Miller Street and village tree trimming. The Lions Club will perform the tree work. An information meeting on building permits is set for April 25 in Hamiota, while the Oak River Service Plan 2000 heads to the Rural Municipality of Blanshard. The LUD calls for a town wide cleanup April 29–30 with residents urged to place yard waste at pickup for May 1 garbage collection. A complaint over unsightly premises prompts potential RM council action. by-law reviews include derelict vehicles and zoning in consultation with the RM. The CAO will seek legal advice and zoning areas for residential and non residential use will be defined for RM consideration. Street sweeping is authorized if feasible and 60 tulips will be purchased from the Oak River Legion.
