Local hockey fans recall the 1989 90 Hamiota Huskies who played 38 games and went 27 11 before capturing the Provincial D Championship by defeating Lundar in a three game series. A veterans team met the current Huskies in an April 1 charity game winning 10 9. Local hockey fans packed the arena as the Hamio ta Huskies faced the Alumni Huskies in a benefit match for Kim and Derek Patterson and their infant son Jamie facing heart surgery. Gate receipts topped 1400 dollars, donated to the family while they seek care in Winnipeg hospitals.
