MTS seeks rate increases to fund debt reduction plan
Manitoba Telephone System filed with the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba for revised rates. Brooks Team Captures Canadian Foresters Curling Title
Dale Brooks of Hamiota and teammates Leonard Allan Earl Brooks and Jim Tapp won the Canadian Foresters Curling Championships in Goderich Ontario defeating Alberta in the semi and British Columbia in the final. The Manitoba women led by Joelle Brown of Winnipeg also claimed the title after beating Alberta in the semis and British Columbia in the final.

Legislation proposes reduced work week for public sector
Finance Minister Clayton Manness introduced the Public Sector Reduced Work Week and Compensation Management Act aiming to extend a shorter work schedule to provincial government, Crown corporations, health facilities, municipalities, school boards, universities and colleges. The bill also limits compensation for judges doctors and boards. The program allows up to 15 days of reduced work with leaves of absence instead of layoffs and requires civil servants to take 10 days unpaid leave this year via July August and a few days around Christmas.

Parkland Regional Library system shows a year of progress in 1992 per director Jean Butchart. Automation began with a location file project to speed requests and improve circulation. Overall system circulation reached about 280 000, with a 2 451 dollar deficit and assets near 967 753 dollars amid a regional population decline.
