Livestock Transport Law Change Sought by KAP in Manitoba
In Winnipeg on February 10 1987 KAP urged the Manitoba Motor Transport Board to back amendments to the Highway Traffic Act allowing one farmer to haul another farmer s livestock to market or for processing with compensation for actual costs. The request notes current law forbids such transit though grains and other commodities are handled by neighbors. Concerns include insurance coverage and highway wear as well as fuel and equipment efficiency. EAP supported updating the act to align livestock rules with other agricultural commodities.
