Oakner U C W meeting notes April session

The Oakner United Church Women group met April 1 at Mrs. D. Bomford's home with twelve members and one visitor. They canceled March due to bad weather. Devotions by Mrs. Routledge and Mrs. Anderson focused on Easter. Business by president Routledge covered study projects Leaf Rapids Church for the Deaf Winnipeg and Agricultural Missions.

Solar project announced at Manitoba Legislative Building

Public Works Minister Russell Doern and Leonard Evans unveil a solar energy demonstration at the Legislative Building. The system uses four roof arrays feeding two 5,000 gallon storage tanks to heat the interior, funded by federal 78000 and provincial 10000 grants. An 18 month operating period will study wind, frost, dirt, and fluid performance.

Appreciation Night for Johnnie Riddell Set in Hamiota

The Health Service Centre staff with United Church, Agricultural Society, Pioneer Club, Lion's Club, Rural and Village Councils, Senior Citizens, Red Sox Ball Club and others sponsor An Appreciation Night on Wednesday April 14 at 8 00 p m in the Community Centre. Johnnie Riddell turns 80 this month.

Rolling River School Board approves 1976 levy increase plan

Rolling River Division Board set a 4.6 mill special levy rise for 1976, raising farm and residential taxes to 48.2 mills. Government grants total 2,663,727 dollars, with a 4,344,724 dollar budget and 1,680,997 to be raised by levy. The change follows March 22 budget finalization and grant adjustments announced by the Minister of Education.
