Carnival Capers Draws Crowd in Hamiota Demonstration

Donna Rochdale demonstrated chiffon cake and yeast bread making on April 3 sponsored by the Hamiota Women's Institute. About 158 women and 8 men attended as Mr. Buckle of Wheat Pool Flour spoke, with music by Kris Thor.

Vic Edwards Honored for Twenty Years at Egg Station

The Manitoba Dairy and Poultry Co-Operative Association awarded Vic Edwards a Twenty Year Service button for running the local Egg Station since 1942. His colleagues surprised him with three power tools a cordless razor and others as thanks. Mrs Edwards accompanied him to the Producers Convention.

June 1962 English exam shortened to one paper

The Education Minister approves a High School Examination Board plan reducing Grade 12 English in June 1962 to a single three hour paper covering Drama Poetry Prose and Composition. A 25 percent allotment for Composition. exam date set for June 20 1962 with a supplemental session on August 21 1962.

O Op Managers Conference Draws 300 Co op Leaders

About 300 retail cooperative managers attended a conference in Edmonton March 13 to 15. Vance Packard spoke on advertising undermining society, while Dr. W S Drummond discussed shifts in goods distribution and the rise of chain supermarkets and discount houses. J Maitland of Hamiota was among delegates from the district.

United Church notes praise for Sun day's Heritage program by Eleanor Collins. Camp Wasaga Board sets 1962 camp dates with Hi C Camp May 18–21 at 5.00 and various junior boys and girls sessions in July and August. Advance fee raised to 5.00 to reduce cancellations. total camp cost 13.50 including board and insurance. Crusade for Christ by Leighton Ford concludes in Brandon Arena with many converts and rededications. Morning service to include the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

U C W Unit No 1 Met At Mrs Gray Home

The March meeting of Unit No 1 of the U C W was held at the home of Mrs T Gray with Mrs Williams in the chair. Twenty one members attended. Mrs McBain's group led devotion. The group planned to serve lunch at Presbytery meetings on March 26 and to donate a welfare quilt. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction.
