Downtown Decoration Underway for Holiday Display

Hamburg Wildcats Open Strong In New Gym

Sidney Cowgirls edge Hamburg Wildkittens 58 51 as Hamburg debuts a new gym with improved seating and lighting. Debby Jennings led Hamburg with 19 points, Vickie Lynn 14, while Sidney's Jonell Ballinger poured in 24 and Lu Freeman 25, aided by 18 of 30 free throws for the Raiders.

Fremont County Treasurer to adjust public hours 9 to 4:30 weekdays

Beginning the first of the month the Fremont County treasurer's office will reduce its hours open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 11 30 a.m. Saturdays. The office will be closed to the public while work continues until 5:00 p.m. Treasurer Winifred Rhoades cites mounting paperwork as the reason for the change. The Hamburg Community United Fund annual meeting is set for Tuesday Nov. 30 at 7 30 p.m. in the Conference room at the Iowa State Bank, with three directors to be elected.

Bleachers in Hamburg Gym Described Adequate First Use

Hamburg's new gym used temporary outdoor bleachers imported from other schools. The seats filled on Hamburg's side with some standing room and remaining visitor seats. Superintendent George Neuzil warned regular bleachers unlikely before the Wildcats' last home game, Feb 4 against South Page. A 50 cent adult and 25 cent student charge for B team and junior high games takes effect next Monday.

Nebraska students tour Hamburg departments

Richard Eisenhower and Richard Jones, student teachers from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, spent the day in Hamburg observing the Vocational Agriculture Department. Alan Bothart, a vocational agriculture instructor, visited the high school mathematics department as part of the Malvern New Schools visiter program.

Beck Indicted In Iowa County Morals Charge

Beck is indicted on seven counts of moral violation under the 1971 Iowa Code. The Monday hearing before Judge Harold L. Martin examined the indictments as potentially inadequate. Martin will rule on the evidence at a hearing next Tuesday afternoon.

In Hamburg vicinity moisture through Tuesday reached 3.62 inches for November, surpassing 1948’s 3.40 inches. With October’s 8.52 inches and November’s near 3.6 more, the year’s total is 21.71 inches, still 8.88 inches short of normal 30.69. The month includes two inches last midweek and about 0.1 inch on Tuesday, mainly as snow.
