Cost Clauses Cover Operators in Wage Dispute
George W. Eliott testified for the national committee on gas and electric service telling a committee that 14 percent wage raises were to be absorbed by the public with no coal price rise. He said 95 percent of coal is under long term contracts allowing price increases, forcing utilities to seek higher rates despite public belief. He appealed to the coal commission chair and justice department, who he said were powerless.
