Pioneer Preacher R T Parkhurst Dies in Des Moines

Hendrickson Accepts Port Town Marshal Post

Reverend Geo Hendrickson plans to take the town marshal role with condition to name his six assistants and serve without salary if necessary. Dr A B Cox an early Hamburg resident and Southern Methodist preacher died January 30 1907 at his son Charles Brewster Neb at age 90 years 5 days He moved from North Carolina to Hamburg in the 1860s introducing the Southern Methodist church to the area He also practiced medicine and served as preacher in charge of the Hamburg circuit J S Rooker

A Washington Party in Martha Washington Dress Up

The ladies of the 42 club hosted their husbands at How ata Lloyd’s home on Friday eve to honor Washington’s birthday. Martha Washington costumes drew praise for Mrs Hill and Mrs Hulshizer. A two course luncheon featured sandwiches salad scalloped oysters celery coffee pickles and whipped cream. Tables adorned with calla lilies. Guests included Mrs Wil Gottsche of Rock Springs and Mrs M F Cooley. The note closes with a hopeful line that every anniversary be as pleasant.

Redshaw Nominated At Hamburg City Caucus

The city caucus last Tuesday in Hamburg nominated candidates for coming city officers in one of the largest meetings of its kind. Church notices urge attendance with services titled What’s the Use to Pray and At the Feet of Jesus, Bible school at 10 a.m., preaching at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., junior and senior endeavors, and Wednesday prayer at 7:30 p.m.
